Boss takes broom from me and breaks over tractor... what to do?

I work in construction better explained demolition and I expect people to be a little on the rough edge. I was working on a job site sweeping up and my broom broke. I was trying to put it back together(the bottom part to the stick) and I guess I was taking too long I'm not even sure but my boss walks over and takes it out of my hand a breaks it over a tractor and walks away without saying a word. So I go and get another because the area needs to be cleaned up and after a few minutes he comes over again yelling at me telling me Im doing a half *** job and just yelling. I like my work, I don't want to be fired because who knows when I will find something else. What can I do humanely or legally?
